#OctPoWriMo Day 18

181 Days Without Rain

it’s been too long
since rejuvenating waters fell,
that sound so soothing
is the music
I’ve been missing

a little storm
to stir the soul,
thunder rolling
to fill the silence,
lightning to jolt
the dulled senses

in dreams I can
count on grey skies,
flash floods,
& petals covered
in healing dew

in memories
I can puddle jump,
run for cover,
dance with my umbrella

purified, baptismal flow
from these dark clouds
that surround me
is exactly
what my ash heart needs
