#OctPoWriMo 2021 — Day 1: “Augur’s Ashes”

Auger’s Ashes

there is blood
on the edges
of the book
of questions

addicted
to darkside knowledge,
he devised
sinister methods
of extraction

holy prayers
and grim prophecies,
from fingertips
to iron lips

“blessed be
             the eye that sees”

red moon
and restlessness,
spirits and
exsanguinated
helplessness

the first is
never the worst
of it,
the last to
forget the past
feels wicked
for it

he sought
the fires to
burn his name,
gave it all
away
to the
dancing flames

    1. Thank you. I saw a post on Instagram from Morgan saying she’d post the prompts there and in a Facebook group? I’m not sure if they are posted yet or not though. She is @mdragonwillow on Instagram.

  1. Awesome! Thrilled that you’re doing a poem a day again this October, and I look forward to reading them. This was a great start – nice and dark!

  2. This is awesome! I honestly can’t believe you wrote a poem every day for October! I was just looking through your blog and saw that you really did get one out every day, and that’s amazing! I am going to read through these! Congrats!
