Genesis
you take me to places
where moon glow burns,
beyond points in
our confuddled timeline
remember the alien lights
we danced under? I have
a mind that gets lost
in them, in the menacing
gleam in your
eye pools too often
chemically blinded —
and so what? —
there are worse
avenues to be a vagabond
down side of the highway,
yes, I’m in the sinful wrong
this is the shallow water
summoning, new moon
optimism shattered by
a scratching playlist,
the kind where every song
makes me bleed
where you can’t see
is where I’ll be, automatic
movements below
oscillating cosmo
flubs
someone’s made a mistake
in the matching, someone’s
cruel enough to have given
us life
you’d rather watch me drown
than save me, good tides
provide a dangling doll
for you our fingers
will never touch
this pain is enough
of a reminder —
I don’t even need you —
of paths of minefields,
all of adolescence,
crashing into middledom
I’m ready to fly off with you,
but you’re running out of steam
and I’m still an acrophobiac
maybe if we wait long enough
one of us will bud
a set of impossible wings

A sad yet hopeful poem! Such great phrases you have here, it’s a joy to read this poem! And the sound of it, slow and so beautiful!
