NaPoWriMo 2023 — Day 17: “Breathwork”

17. Breathwork

Grace twirls in a white dress
bestowing a calmness
on the gathered crowd.
They are there for
respite, these retreating
ones wandering toward her
sprinkled light that glitters
from her dance to be inhaled.
Breathwork should never
be so demanding that a
reminder is necessary,
but the busyness of
earthly angels twists
wings just enough
to prevent soaring.
Stay grounded for now,
she sings in a whisper.
They seed themselves
at her feet, root their
wishes into the soil,
and wait patiently
for the liftoff of
revealed truth
for as long as it takes.
For as long as the final
note from her heavenly
throat quakes.

  1. Beautiful poem Jennifer! Just love the way the poem ends with these lines: ‘for the liftoff of
revealed truth for as long as it takes. For as long as the final note from her heavenly throat quakes.’!

  2. I’ve pulled this, as I feel it a lot: “Breathwork should never
    be so demanding that a
reminder is necessary,” Another fantastic write, Jennifer x
