Three Poems @ New Eden Ministry Blog

I am honored that I was invited to write a guest post for New Eden Ministry, a wonderful spiritual community I am so happy to be a part of. Thank you to Justin Coutts for featuring three of my poems. You can read them HERE.

Winter Storm ‘Ember’ is upon us here in Northern Michigan. (I just love that name!) I don’t think we’ll see as much snow as other parts of the US, but I’m looking forward to living in a winter wonderland for awhile. I went out a lot this weekend, walking through the wintry woods & feeling wonderful about it. My husband has made a wonderful soup that warms us up when we return home from our adventures.

Stay warm & cozy, everyone!

  1. These poems are so beautiful! The first two have pain mixed with happiness in such simple and strong lyrics! You use a shorter line to really good effect! The third poem is a devotional one, and I am moved by your faith! Superb writing Jennifer! Loved reading the write up of your journey in poetry! Keep writing your wonderful poems my friend! Enjoy the winter!

  2. Jenn,

Your post and poems are incredibly moving. From childhood to navigating spiritual dryness, you beautifully express the profound connection between your journey, faith, and self-discovery. Each poem resonates with depth and emotion, a testament to the healing power of poetry. Thank you for sharing this intimate part of your life.

  3. Beautiful poetry, Jen, and rightly featured on such a great site! I loved the imagery in the first poem especially of the stone wall and the bruised violet first to break through—just gorgeously conceived. 💜

  4. “Ember” is a truly great name for a storm, I agree. A fitting analog to the unifying theme of these powerful poems. The flame in them varies from candle to blaze, but never goes out. 💜
