NaPoWriMo 2024 — Day 1

Every year I debate over whether or not I want to participate in this & every year I decide it’s a good idea. This year’s going to be different for me, however. If I manage a couple completed poems that will be wonderful, but I’m not looking to complete or finalize anything this month. In fact, I’m probably only going to share snippets. A stanza here. A line or two there. I haven’t written much poetry lately because I’m still finding it difficult to. I make plenty of notes, I write down lines that come to me, but when it comes to forming a whole piece around these things, I struggle. Here’s my Day 1 contribution:

Amicable

Princess holds a pen
Bleeds out on paper
Wishes it were sharper
Hopes one day
To be brave enough
To break the skin

Happy writing to everyone participating this year!
