#NaPoWriMo: Day 30

By the Light

dawn rises
singing her canticles,
touches the killing fields

now is the time
for getting rid of
the yearnings of yesterday

gather up your seedlings
for the sprouting
sorrows of tomorrow

men have been digging
in the dark, shallow graves
for lost innocence

wailing women have
been silenced by
the night, a plague

that tugs at frail
heartstrings, loneliness
when the sun goes down

she’s arrived again,
shining bright on
melancholia

making tears glisten,
dampening the earth
with new morning dew

this shattering sun
driving nails into
cold coffins & delicate skin

Note: Another #NaPoWriMo has come to an end! We made it!
I enjoyed this month. Getting back into daily writing has been
a journey. I definitely need a break now. 😀 I’ve loved reading
others’ poems too. That’s half the fun of Poetry Month.
Take a rest now, poets. You deserve it.
