Mary-Louise

Mary-Louise

Honey chestnut,    I read today
they’re not liking you much

You’re a sandstorm,     dust
blinding the eyes of good liars

Beige mouth,    speaking of
truth,     stunning a subjective sentiment

So sentient,        washed out by years
of shore searching,         peach shells

You’re clamming up under manila heat lamps,
sweating sugar beets,    wrapping that taupe cardigan
tighter and tighter around windblown shoulders,
sinking lower and lower,       an all-knowing dune
