NaPoWriMo 2024 — Day 22

Bright Hours

Out there is all amethyst.
I dodge the gleams that
sneak in through the slats.
They are acidic on my eyes.
I wait for luster. I want to
view things from the cosmos
to dull their glow.
Did you know
there’s all kinds
of trash orbiting
in outer space?

I cry clouded syrup.
I wait for the cotton
candy colors to take over.
Only when the first
star wakes up do I
whisper an apology.
