Sea Calling

Sea Calling

Beach need. Wait prayerfully.
Safety in a midnight swim.
Clear water.      Just checking in.

Where to start? The beginning.
For art. For the beat of the sacred
heart. Blood of old wounds flows
freely                          in the dark.

Walls of the ark. Rough arms.
Taming the mid-summer squalls
First, do no harm.         It’s warm,

here in the dreaming place.
Escape from the storm,
a floating, forgetful space.

Return to self. Like the tide.
Drift on back. From the inside.
Cut me some slack.        Ride the swell.

Home is a feeling we all know
                                            well.
Being borne away can feel
                                          like hell.
