again to leave me
and I think my stomach
has known this
for weeks

we’d only suffer
a shock from
touching you

little brother,
keep dancing

little brother,
breathe

taught to wear
resiliency in braided hair

Nothing protected us then,
& we’re so much more
vulnerable now…
