Funfair
dance around or dive in —
this flavor of ocean
extracts the better
of us —
make it so subtle that it’s
subliminal, barely
there, a gossamer hint,
a mirage
admit you almost saw it,
almost felt a sting
of a love arrow, kissed
a wound & healed it,
tore open your chest
& exposed the emptiness
this whirl & twirl, this
cyclone simulacrum,
this oil & water mix,
this dainty delusion
you’re a carnival ride
& I’m going to be sick

Yes to all of this, Jennifer! The imagery is incredible and the ending line is so powerful and perfect. I really love what you did with this poem.
